Reports have surfaced about the difficulties World Cup teams are experiencing in America because of the extreme changes in immigration policy implemented by the Trump administration..
Some examples include; a Somali referee who was denied entry, an Iraqi player being denied entry to America, ticketed fans from other countries were also denied entry to America, the Iran soccer team had to check-in at a Mexican hotel and then leave America immediately after every game. No one was allowed to remain in America over night after games.
A Dallas police department officer is now under scrutiny in a viral video depicting him physically assaulting a staff person working with the Egyptian National Team. It looks bad!
The video depicts an officer confronting players of the Egypt soccer team, along with their fans as the players posed for photos in front of their hotel in Dallas. The officer pushed back Egypt’s national team director Ibrahim Hassan while posing for a photo with a young fan.
As the argument continued, the officer yelled “Back Off” multiple times while shoving Hassan backwards. Hassan said “no pushing” to the officer during the fight. Another officer attempted to break up the parties involved.
According to police, the hotel security personnel called them.
After releasing a statement regarding this incident, DPD spokesperson stated,
“We are aware of the video circulating on social media. [Yesterday] afternoon, the Dallas Police Department responded to the Westin at the request of hotel security regarding an individual without event credentials attempting to gain access. The situation was resolved on scene, and DPD met with representatives of the team to address their concerns. The matter has since been resolved.”
